Walker Recall: The vote won’t be close

They’re out hauling in signatures.  Our guess is that they will gather the signatures needed for the recall.  Then things are going to start getting tough. The dems are going to have to run somebody against him.

What is the opponent going to run on?  Walker's failure to balance the budget?  Nope.  His failure to do what he said he was going to do when he was elected in the first place?  I don’t think so.  Walker’s doing exactly what he said he would.  The short answer is they have to run against Walker’s victory over the public unions bargaining rights… and that’s about it.

So when it comes down to voting, the unions are going to vote against Walker.  Not that many of them voted for him in the first place.  The anti-business, tax the rich crowd is voting the other way, but then they always do.  The conservatives will vote with him.  Heck, he’s doing what we want.

It will come down to the independent voters.  The independent voter certainly has some concern and empathy for the public union members who lost bargaining rights.  But the independent voters also see the rest of the picture.  They watched Walker solve a state budget problem that many thought couldn’t be balanced without serious cutbacks in services.  They have watched business after business leave the state and take their jobs with them.  And yes, they know Walker wants to turn that around.  Finally, Walker is holding the line on taxes and that sounds pretty good to people whose wages aren’t going up while prices still seem to.

When Election Day comes the vote isn’t going to be the razor thin Prosser-style victory.  People have had time to cool down and realize the changes were needed and ultimately for the best.

Prediction:
Walker over as yet un-named opponent: 54% - 46%
